Environmental & Wildlife Protection

At Standfast tree Services, we take a proactive approach to the protection of the environment including wildlife habitats.

We take care to protect and preserve natural habitats while carrying out tree work. Our team works responsibly to safeguard wildlife, minimise disturbance to the surrounding environment, and ensure compliance with local regulations.

Our team understands that every tree plays a role in the local ecosystem

That’s why we:

1. Conduct Wildlife Assessments

Before any work begins, inspect trees for nesting birds, possums, or other native wildlife. If active habitats are found, delay work or consult with wildlife experts.

2. Avoid Breeding Seasons

Schedule tree work outside of key breeding periods to minimize disruption to animal life.

3. Use Low-Impact Equipment & Minimize Waste

Choose tools and machinery that reduce soil compaction and avoid damaging surrounding vegetation.
Recycle green waste through mulching and avoid sending organic material to landfill.

Wildlife & Habitat Protection

Sydney’s native birds and animals rely on trees for shelter, nesting, and food. Tree works are planned to protect habitats, retain habitat trees where possible, and provide alternatives such as nesting boxes when removal is unavoidable.

Environmental Care & Low-Impact Practices

From coastal forests to inland plains, Sydney’s ecosystems require careful management. Low-impact machinery, breeding-season planning, and responsible waste handling help minimise environmental disturbance.

Site Assessments & Monitoring

Comprehensive site inspections identify wildlife, nesting sites, and sensitive vegetation. Ongoing monitoring during works ensures risks are managed and habitats remain protected.

Legislative Compliance

All tree works comply with relevant environmental laws and council requirements, ensuring protection of biodiversity, pollution control, and responsible tree management across Sydney.

Wildlife, Environmental & Habitat Protection

Sydney supports a rich range of native wildlife and diverse ecosystems, from coastal forests to inland plains. Responsible tree work requires careful planning to protect habitats, minimise environmental impact, and comply with relevant legislation while safeguarding the birds and animals that depend on trees for shelter, food, and nesting.

Habitat Preservation Project: Retaining hollows as nesting sites

The Challenge

A eucalyptus tree contained trunk hollows that raised safety concerns, while also providing important habitat. Council required detailed assessment before approving any works.

Our Solution

An aerial inspection was conducted to accurately assess the extent and condition of the hollows and evaluate whether selective canopy reduction could improve safety while retaining the trunk.

The Result

Clear, evidence-based recommendations were provided for the council report, allowing the tree to be made safer while preserving valuable habitat within the trunk.
